What does Martin Luther King, Jr. have to do with Sierra Club outings?  If you are going out with the Marys Peak Group for a hike honoring him, his words can bring inspiration and reflection.

On January 20, outings leader Irene Schoppy led a group of hikers on a 4 mile hike at the Peavy Arboretum near Corvallis, OR.  Along the way, the group stopped to share segments of Martin Luther King, Jr sermons and speeches.  A writer from the local paper attended the outing and shot video of some of the readings, and featured the hike in a full page article appearing in the Corvallis Gazette Times on February 18.

The Marys Peak Group of the Sierra Club has a diverse outings program, check out their calendar for upcoming outings: http://oregon.sierraclub.org/groups/marys_peak/events/
